Lovely little cafe with indoor and outdoor seating next to St Albans cathedral. Friendly staff. Great choice of all day breakfast, lunch, hot drinks, snoothies pastries and even doggy biscuits. Good vegetarian selection. Worth the visit.

Such an excellent lunch spot. Tucked away off the main street with indoor and outdoor seating, a ham hock feast was top notch.

Lovely breakfast here and we devoured the home made hash browns! Very friendly greetings and lovely to hear locals popping in and out saying hello and getting their coffee fix. One tiny suggestion - a couple of kids breakfast options on the menu would be great ? Thank you!

We LOVE this place. The food is always delicious, the staff are so friendly and accommodating and the setting is just beautiful. It’s a great place to take the kids as the menu is ideal for little people, the staff are also super helpful and non- judgemental if you kid happens to be having a tantrum/ meltdown.

Often visit as the food is delicious, staff are amazing and it’s really child friendly so I find it a safe place whenever being out on my own with my baby or even a meeting place for friends and their kids.

We decided to try the avocado and halloumi wrap, which was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly balanced. For those who prefer a classic, their traditional English breakfast featuring locally sourced meats from Goddard’s is a real treat. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and a relaxed vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. And the highlight? The sweet potato fries! Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and absolutely bursting with flavour – they’re an absolute must-try. Whether you’re stopping by for a coffee, a quick bite, or a leisurely lunch, George Street Canteen hits the mark. It’s a perfect spot to refuel and recharge, with food that’s fresh, tasty, and thoughtfully prepared. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in the area!

What a smashing find tucked away in a small courtyard bursting with character. With a wonderful selection of specials; both food and drink, it's a lovely place to relax and while away an hour. They boast that they have the best coffee in town....and it is delicious.

Lovely setting, came for my first ever birthday breakfast, we certainly were not disappointed. Great setting, friendly staff, tasty food, a must if you are passing. Try to book or prepare to wait, but it’s worth it!
